Ithaca participates in the “Intersites UCSD” event for Housing First in Strasbourg!

The “Intersites UCSD” event at the European Parliament in Strasbourg, organized by the French “Housing First” project, was attended by 600 participants from 33 French cities and 6 international organizations. Among them Ithaca, which was the first Greek participation in the history of the event. The event lasted 3 days and provided an opportunity for professionals, researchers, people served and other participants to share experiences and knowledge about addressing homelessness.

Some of the topics discussed, in terms of talks and workshops:

● Providing integrated support: housing first practices and trauma.
● Peer working role: building trusting relationships through peer working.
● Combating stigma and social exclusion.

Through workshops and moving stories of people served, the importance and necessity of Housing First programs was highlighted, both in the context of providing housing and holistic support aimed at holistic reintegration of people experiencing stigma.

During the event, we had the opportunity to present Ithaca’s work and highlight the lack of housing programs in Greece. It was a valuable opportunity to exchange knowledge and experiences that will contribute to the development of housing programmes in Greece.
