World Homelessness Day – 10 October 2024

10th of October is dedicated to World Homelessness Day, a day that aims to shed light on the reality of those living without or in precarious housing and highlight the efforts being made around the world to tackle the phenomenon. The day was established in 2010 to raise public awareness of the issue of homelessness and to strengthen cooperation between communities, organisations and governments in the search for solutions.

Homelessness is not a problem that affects only a specific part of the population. It can affect anyone, regardless of educational level, social status or professional background. The reasons are often complex and include financial difficulties, unemployment, health problems, family and climate crises. It is a situation that can arise unexpectedly and affect everyone’s life, reminding us of the need for social solidarity and support.

At Ithaca, our goal is to improve the daily lives of people experiencing asthma by providing services such as laundry, but also to help with their meaningful reintegration into society. Through our outreach, over 11,000 people have received comprehensive support, with a focus on building self-confidence and finding employment so they can start their lives again with dignity.

World Homelessness Day is an opportunity to realise that homelessness is a social issue that requires collective solutions and solidarity. At Ithaca, we continue to offer hope and support to those in need, with the goal of a world where no one is left alone in the face of adversity.

Let’s think of this day as an opportunity for understanding and awareness, remembering that behind every number is a person with a story, needs and dreams.

💙 Thank you so much to LG for their constant and meaningful support since the beginning, and to Danezis Stories for producing and creating the video!
