Research for Homelessness in Athens and Pireus

The large volunteering project “Bedrock of Participation for Homelessness” was successfully completed in December 2023. Through the programme, over 150 volunteers actively participated in supporting the work of the agencies with collective activities such as creative art workshops and distribution activities targeting the homeless population.

Another major action that took place was the participation of volunteers in a research study on profiling in the homeless population. The data from this study was collected and analyzed at the closing event in January 2024 by Lina Zirganou from the E.M.E.A.

The event, which was also attended by the new delegate councillor of Civil Society of the Municipality of Athens, Vasiliki Barka, provided important and updated information for people living in street situations, as well as for people experiencing invisible asterism.

The project C.2.6. Foundation for Participation for Asteria is implemented in the framework of the Active citizens fund programme, with the Association “PRAKSIS – Social Support Development and Medical Cooperation Programmes” as implementing agency and the non-profit organisation Ithaca and the NGO “Society for the Study of Human Sciences” as partners.
