Homelessness and Access to Healthcare: A New Partnership with SNF for Care Without Barriers
Homelessness and access to healthcare are two concepts that, unfortunately, do not always go hand in hand. Even though medical care is a fundamental human right, for many people living on the streets or in housing insecurity, it remains a distant and complex challenge.
At Ithaca, our Social Service team receives dozens of requests every day from people who need basic healthcare support: help booking medical appointments, arranging tests, or covering costs that for most people are taken for granted. For those experiencing homelessness, navigating the healthcare system can feel like an endless maze.
Support with a Human Face
Through daily interventions, our Social Service provide guidance, schedule appointments, and stand by every individual who needs it. Our mission is clear: no one should feel alone when facing the barriers of the healthcare system.
With the Support of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF)
Thanks to the support of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF), we can take this work one step further: we now have the means to reach even more people and give them access to their fundamental, essential, and vital right to medical care and healthcare.
Homelessness and access to healthcare should never be conflicting paths. Together, we are building a fairer society for everyone.
