Across Europe, nearly <strong>1.2 million people<\/strong> experience homelessness on any given day. It affects people of all ages and backgrounds who live without financial security or a support network. Despite progress, <strong>social inequality<\/strong> and the lack of sustainable policies continue to isolate thousands of people across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Voices of Ithaca: Stories of Strength and Hope<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To mark <strong>World Homelessness Day<\/strong>, <strong>Ithaca<\/strong> presents the video <strong>\u201cVoices of Ithaca\u201d<\/strong>, a collaboration with filmmaker <strong>Alkistis Kafetsi<\/strong> of <em>Break The Frame<\/em>. The video shares three real stories of people who faced homelessness and found the courage to rebuild their lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Yiannis<\/strong>, 80 years old, found care and dignity again through Ithaca\u2019s support, improving his health and rediscovering hope.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Mr. Yiannis\u2019s Hope: Finding Strength at 80\" width=\"1170\" height=\"658\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/56k_UAfxnPo?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Georgia<\/strong>, a single mother, joined Ithaca\u2019s team and, within six months, found stable employment and provided her child with a safe home.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Georgia\u2019s Strength: A New Life for Herself and Her Son\" width=\"1170\" height=\"658\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/afXGNQLWvIQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Giorgos<\/strong>, after years of living on the streets, regained his self-confidence through job counseling. \u201cIf you don\u2019t want to be helped, no one can help you,\u201d he says. \u201cNow I\u2019m taking back my share of life.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Giorgos Story | \ud83d\udcac \u201cI lost my beard and my hair within six months.\u201d\" width=\"1170\" height=\"658\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/XzjJmwcaYlE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Care as the First Step Toward Change<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>These stories show that homelessness is not a personal failure \u2014 it is the outcome of <strong>systemic inequalities<\/strong>, lack of access to healthcare, employment, and social support. True change requires <strong>holistic solutions<\/strong>, including psychosocial support, empowerment, and reintegration into the workforce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At <strong>Ithaca<\/strong>, we stand by those experiencing homelessness every day, offering practical support and human connection.
