Homelessness and care<\/strong> rarely intersect in everyday life. But through Ithaca\u2019s Pop-Up Villages<\/strong>, even something as simple as a haircut can restore dignity, offer relief, and help someone feel seen again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meet Dimitris from The Box Hair Studio<\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Dimitris, a hairdresser and owner of The Box Hair Studio<\/a><\/strong><\/strong>, has been volunteering with Ithaca for years. With a pair of scissors and an open heart, he brings dignity, confidence and relief to people experiencing homelessness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been a hairdresser for 25 years, and I\u2019ve had my own salon for the past 15. I contacted Marilli at Ithaca, she explained how I could help as a volunteer, and I immediately said yes. The experience has been truly unique, full of emotion \u2014 hard to describe in words.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Homelessness Has Many Faces<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat I realized is that being homeless isn\u2019t just about not having a house. The help you can give someone is precious; it makes you a better person \u2014 and improves our whole society.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Dimitris reminds us that care isn’t only about services<\/strong>. It\u2019s about presence, connection, and restoring a sense of worth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
